How to Create a Combined (horizontal/Vertical) Mullion schedule for Curtain Walls Assembly
Problem: Curtain wall mullions are all divided by grid line (not visually of course) and in schedule they are reported as separate parts. They need to be scheduled as one piece along one gridline.
There is a workaround to schedule these as single Mullions in vertical direction or horizontal direction as well. To Revit they are all just mullions.
Creating a Project Parameter to Separate the Curtain Wall Horizontal Mullions from The Vertical Mullions.
Schedule the Verticals by Their Grid Identification.
This is what you do:
Say Your Parameter Is Called Grid#, Is an Integer Type, And Is Assigned to The Curtain Wall Mullions Category.
2. Assign A Grid# Value to All Horizontal Mullions Of 0 And A Different Grid Value for Each Vertical Row of Mullions As 1, 2, 3, Etc.
3. Create A Curtain Wall Mullion Schedule and Include the Parameters Grid#, Type, And Length.
4. In the Formatting Tab Set the Length Parameter To Calculate Totals.
5. Create A Filter: Grid# Does Not Equal 0 And on The Sorting/Grouping Tab Sort by Grid#. Uncheck Itemize Every Instance.
This will schedule the total lengths of each vertical mullion in a curtain wall. You can turn this around to schedule the horizontal mullions by filtering by grid# equals 0 instead.
This method is for the simplest of simple curtain wall types but can be used and expanded to work with other curtain wall mullion conditions that exist in the real world. Hopefully this will get you started. AND, no nasty formulas.
